Here are some interesting facts about
movie posters:
*The oldest one we have uncovered is from 1967 and is displayed in our lobby.
*The 1970's era posters have a mix of actual stiff "posterboard" and flimsy thin paper
*Posters did not become two-sided (can be back-lit) until the later 80's
and not all of the studios printed them that way, but NOW that is the standard
*For a few years in the late 80's & early 90's, posters were folded, sent in an envelope and are creased!
* Theaters rarely receive more than 2 posters, unless the Studio sends a teaser poster for early promotion
There are 7 Typical Movie Poster Styles in
Filmmaking:
1.) Teaser Poster (limited images or simple logo)
2.) Main or Final posters (often full Cast)
3.) Special Character Posters (individual characters)
4.) Award or Review Posters
5.) Color Driven Style
6.) Couple-Leaning-Against-Each-Other Style
7.) Large Text on Faces Style
